you rock, rock.

Jason Schwartzman for Band of Outsiders. This photoshoot is freaking adorable! Just one more reason to go to Fashion's Night Out: Scott Sternberg of Boy/Band of Outsiders will be at Opening Ceremony (along with Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, and Alexander Wang... !!!!!).

props

Karen Elson, Coco Rocha, Liya Kebede, Sasha Pivovarova, Viktoriya Sasonkina in Vogue US. I like this photoshoot for the props - scottie dogs, suitcases, bikes, vintage cars and croquet! The croquet makes me think of the 80s movie Heathers... and Longstreet Farm.

wish for fall

Clothes like this are the only thing keeping me from moving to SoCal for endless summer. Milla Jovovitch and Sasha Pivovarova in Vogue Italy. In the second to last image - are those shoes with toes painted on them?

Some images from an Elle Italy editorial. Adorable adorable. And these are clothes someone might actually wear.

I know this has been around for a while, but I just love it.

garance doré

Garance Doré does lovely fashion illustrations. Which reminds me that I need to break out my sketchbook and do some too.... grr.
P.S. The chair in the last picture reminds me of my website!

the swedish

Sam found these really cool bikes made by Swedish manufacturer Skeppshult. Love the unusual frame shapes and the fresh details. My favorite is the first one, even though it's a traditional frame, I just like the overall look. The down side is that these bikes carry a $1000+ price tag and the frames only come in one size (22" or so) which is about three inches too big for me. Still, they're nice to admire...

green jewelry

This is cool: "growing jewelry" from Hafsteinn Juliusson. It's grass - interesting and sorta beautiful in a way. The tough guy knuckle ring with soft grass on it is kind of a mixed message. Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "Your ass is grass!"
P.S. Do you think my dad would wear this? He spends a lot of time taking care of our lawn! Hahaha

sabine pieper

Really cool fashion illustrator Sabine Pieper. I relate to the subjects she chooses and the techniques she uses - drawing faces, folds of fabric, and structured objects like the perfume bottles - the best kinds of things. I like her contrast between messy and neat, the use of type, the hint of color. She makes me want to whip out my pencils and charcoal.

opening ceremony for pendleton

This is a collaboration between Pendleton and Opening Ceremony. What a statement! I just adore this coat. Promise me you'll check out the link for more photos - it's worth it. The native American prints mixed with plaids is so insanely fabulous. Men's stuff too!

may i admire you?

A little late, but director of legendary 80's movies John Hughes died this past week, and now I'm really in the mood to watch my favs (RIP!). I love them all but I have to say that Andie's thrift store style in Pretty in Pink is something that's always inspired me. Also must make a note of Sloane's fringed leather jacket from Ferris Bueller's Day Off - love.

material culture

This image is from a store in Philadelphia called Material Culture: an art, artifacts and antiques showroom. I haven't been there yet but I'm dying to go. It looks a bit like ABC Carpet and Home in New York City, which, if you haven't been, is just breathtaking. Material Culture is located in a former train garage of the Atwater Kent Radio factory - it's enormous. It features collectibles, art and crafts from all over the world (the image above features Anatolian copper). This is so on my to-do list!

built by wendy

I'm loving Built by Wendy, a small New York City based line of women's and men's clothes and accessories. Wendy designs great basics, in mostly black, white and navy - classic colors! Check out her site to snag that one last summer dress before back to school - almost everything is on sale. Above is the patio pleated stripe dress ($99).
